Gravel-specific XPLR groupset for off-road use

The gravel-specific Rival eTap AXS XPLR 1x12 is SRAM's groupset for demanding off-road trails. Equipped with the popular eTap AXS technology, the shifting behaviour can be individually adapted to your gravelling needs. The gravel bike is equipped with a singlespeed drive system consisting of a 10-44 cassette and a 40T chainring. With this, you can master steep off-road climbs and ride fast on longer gravel roads as well.

Wide tyres and gravel wheels

Solidly built, versatile ROSE G-Thirty Disc gravel wheels with mid-section rim profile and a wide inner rim width of 25 mm ensure high performances on challenging off-road rides. Gravel-specific WTB tyres provide plenty of grip, thanks to larger knobs. They are thus also suitable for speed on difficult grounds.

Gravel handlebars for off-road rides

This gravel handlebar is specially designed for more demanding terrain or trail sections. The ergonomically shaped handlebar has a larger flare for more control and comfort on rougher grounds. With this, you can ride with high speed on difficult terrain, too.

Description

The BACKROAD Rival eTap AXS XPLR 1x12 is the perfect gravel bike for challenging off-road trails. Equipped with the gravel-specific SRAM Rival eTap AXS XPLR as well as a singlespeed drivetrain, versatile and solidly built ROSE G-Thirty Disc gravel wheels wrapped in WTB gravel tyres and with a gravel handlebar suitable for off-road use, this bike has everything you need to master difficult trails.

More long distance – Endurance
Flex is fun – massive comfort in the saddle and a gravity-specific frame fork geometry offers perfect handling on road, gravel and technical terrain. Only a dry throat can stop you.

More off-road – Action
The frame and fork now allow for a tyre width of up to 45 mm with 700c and up to 47 mm with 650b wheels. For rougher road conditions, perfectly adapted protectors at the down tube and chainstays shield from stone chips.

More experience – Adventure
Moreover, the BACKROAD has several mounting points for bottle cages, AnythingCages or bags for the ultimate versatility.

Tolles Gravelbike mit grandiosem Fahrverhalten. Extrem leicht und trotz der breiteren Reifen sehr schnell. Die elektronische Schaltung ermöglicht präzise Schaltvorgänge. Ich bin sehr zufrieden.

But if you changed stock components and then found cracks in the frame, you will be denied a guarantee if you do not want to send the whole bike and wait many months.

Die Auslieferung des Fahrrads erfolgte mit defektem Hinterrad. Dies fiel nach kurzer Zeit beim Umrüsten auf tubless auf (Austritt von Dichtmilch seitlich mitten aus der Felge, kein Halten des entsprechenden Drucks). Man würde denken, dass man bekommt ein Austauschprodukt und das Problem ist erledigt.
Leider stieß ich auf einen sehr unfreundlichen Kundenservice, der schließlich die Versendung eines Ersatzrades zusicherte. Von mir als Kunde eines Rades mit einem Neupreis über 3000 Euro wurde erwartet, dass ich Spezialwerkzeug besitze und den Austausch selbst vornehmen kann (Reifen runter, Kassette Runder, Bremsscheibe runter etc.). Zudem wurde erwartet, dass falls von Seiten von Rose kein Defekt am alten Rad gefunden wird, alles wieder zurück umgebaut werden müsse.
Als das ersehnte Hinterrad endlich bei mir ankam musste ich feststellen, dass es mit einem falschen Freilauf (Shimano statt SRAM) versehen war. Die Rechnung für Rund 300 Euro kam aber zügig bei mir an.
Noch ist der Vorgang nicht überstanden. Ich stehe nun nach 3 Monaten nach dem Kauf noch immer ohne ein funktionsfähiges Fahrrad da.
Evtl. fährt man mit einem Kauf bei der Konkurrenz besser.

Grundsätzlich ein gutes Bike, allerdings verstehe ich nicht warum Rose so viele unterschiedliche Schraubengrößen verwendet. Alleine um die vier Schrauben des Vorbaudeckels des Lenkers abzumontieren benötigt man zwei unterschiedliche Inbusschlüssel.
Alle nicht verwendeten Gewinde sind optisch schön mit Stopfen verschlossen. Das sieht zwar gut aus, aber nur solange man sie nicht benötigt. Denn ich konnte bis jetzt noch keinen davon entfernen ohne den Rahmen dabei zu beschädigen.
Die Reifen sind Geschmacksache. Ich würde mir mehr Grip wünschen und bei einem Schlauchwechsel ist es schon eine Kunst sie wieder aufzuziehen ohne dabei den Schlauch zu beschädigen. Da die Reifen ein Verschleißteil sind, ist das aber zum Glück kein dauerhaftes Problem.
Ansonsten bin ich aber sehr happy mit dem Bike und freue mich schon auf meine erste Gravel-Tour damit.
