The special AEROCORE construction by SMITH OPTICS aims at improving air circulation and thermoregulation and ensuring additional safety. The combination of an EPS shell with shock-absorbing KOROYD zones and the AIREVAC ventilation system offers safety, breathability and shock absorption.
The KOROYD core consists of thousands of small polymer tubes and offers especially high impact resistance. Moreover, the energy-absorbing material is especially breathable, which ensures perfect thermoregulation and keeps your head cool while cycling. Integrated ventilation channels support the AEROCORE concept.
Vents in the front part of the helmet allow for an air flow. Thus, cool air can enter the ventilation system, whereas excess heat can escape through the vents at the rear. This constant air flow ensures high comfort as well as perfect thermoregulation.
Individual fitting system with an adjustment range of 5 cm that can be regulated via a reel. You can adjust both the height and the circumference.
The X-Static pads with interwoven silver threads are fast-drying and have an antibacterial effect to reduce odours. Moreover, they keep the rider cold when it’s hot and a warm when it’s cold thanks to their thermal features.
WHAT IS MIPS?
MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a slip-plane system within the helmet designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head possibly reducing head injury from rotational impacts.
WHY IS MIPS IMPORTANT?
When a head rotates quickly and comes to a sudden stop, the rotational acceleration can cause the brain tissue to experience high levels of strain. This stretching of the tissue that can be caused by these motions can result in various types of brain injury. MIPS is designed with the intent to address rotational acceleration from impact.
HOW DOES MIPS WORK?
MIPS uses a slip-plane system that moves inside the helmet, mimicking the brain’s own protection system. This layer is designed to rotate inside the helmet with the intent to potentially slow or reduce the amount of energy transferred to or from the head. Science tells us that if we can reduce the strains associated with rotational acceleration, we might reduce the risk and severity of brain injury.
