The Backroad EKAR 1x13 is a fast all-rounder with racing genes that exudes the gravel spirit with every single carbon fibre.

With the mechanical 1x13 drivetrain, the built-in Campagnolo Ekar groupset manages to combine fine gear steps and a wide range with the shifting comfort of a single speed crank like no other. In addition to the frame and fork, the seat post, crank and wheels are also made of carbon. The latter were specially designed by Campagnolo for gravel use and are fitted with the fast and lightweight Continental Terra Speed tyres in 40 mm width.

The bottom line for the Backroad Ekar is not only a record-breaking 8.2 kg, but also optimum stiffness values and damping properties. The best conditions for long days with plenty of kilometres.

More long distance | Endurance

Flex is fun: The deep cut-out in the seat tube provides a massive increase in comfort, while the balanced frame geometry offers perfect handling on the road, gravel and technical terrain. Only a dry throat can stop you.

More off-road | Action

The frame and fork allow for a tyre width of up to 45 mm with 700c and up to 47 mm with 650b wheels. For rougher road conditions, perfectly adapted protectors at the down tube and chainstays protect the paint.

Thanks to its many attachment points for bottle cages, Anything Cages or bags, the Backroad offers ultimate versatility, perfect for a day trip or bikepacking adventures.

I can only recommend this bike for small female riders. The open-style seatpost inserted in the main frame really allows me to experience all the advantages of flexing carbon seat posts, despite being 155-160 cm. This is a great plus as female/small female riders usually do not get the full advantage of this. I chose size S, worrying that it would be too large. But after comparing the geometry with my XXS Scott addict RC, I knew the sizing was right for me. I do not experience any discomfort during my rides. The Campagnolo Ekar groupset feels yet again great. The levers are finally small enough to accommodate my tiny hands, I have not had numb hands yet. The breaks are probably the best I have ever had, very responsive. I am still getting used to the shifting, as I am used to my electronic Sram Force. The amount of mounting points is just great. I got myself a Herkelmann wingee fender / pannier rack, which looks flawless. As for the front a GravelHugger does the job, without hitting the fender with my shoe tip. The wheels are a great advantage, in fact, they are the reason I chose this bike. Modifications: I changed the handlebars to narrower ones and the saddle to a female one.

Ein tolles Fahrrad mit der super Campagnolo Ekar Schaltung - die noch ohne Batterie auskommt und komplett in Europa hergestellt wird. Die Laufräder wirken sehr hochwertig. Die Lackierung ist schön und hat schon Komplimente eingebracht, jedoch wirken die schwarzen Spränkler in echt etwas weniger kontrastreich im Vergleich zu den Bildern hier. Das Fahrrad fühlt sich sehr leicht an, ist schön agil, und bietet ausreichend Schraubpunkte fürs Bikepacking. Bei letzterem sind aber auch meine zwei Kritikpunkte angesiedelt: 1) Die Kappen ab Werk sehen nett aus, weil einfach schwarzer, geschlossener Kopf, aber waren eine Qual rauszubekommen (Tipp vom Support: Klebeband draufdrücken und drehen...) 2) Die Gabel musste getauscht werden, da die von mir angebrachte Gepäck-Halterung diese bei der ersten Tour optisch beschädigte. Die mitgelieferten 25mm Schrauben hatten zu wenig "Griff", während sich 30mm Schrauben nicht ganz reindrehen ließen. Hier Kompliment an den Support, der sehr Hilfreich bei der Problemlösung war. Allerdings verstehe ich immer noch nicht, wieso das Gewinde erst nach ein paar Millimetern in der Gabel anfängt. Andernfalls wären die 25mm Schrauben perfekt.
