MERINO WOOL:
Compared to traditional wool, merino wool offers a particularly fine fibre. Because of the extreme weather conditions merino sheep are exposed to in nature, the wool has excellent thermoregulation properties and is capable of wicking moisture away from the body particularly fast. Thus, it creates a warm protective layer for the entire body, even when wet. In contrast to traditional wool, merino wool is not scratchy even when wet. Thus, merino is perfect as a next-to-skin layer. Yet, merino wool is also ideal for warm summer days since its high breathability has a cooling effect. Thanks to a natural sun protection factor, high comfort and fire resistance, merino wool is a very popular fibre.
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX:
This is the worldwide standardised testing and certification system for textile fabrics tested for harmful substances. It applies to raw, intermediate and end products as well. Products are hence subjected to extensive and frequent tests. The production chain is equally monitored. Clothing and textile products certified with the STANDARD 100 are ecologically harmless, as all components – i.e. everything from yarn to buttons – have been tested for harmful substances.
In order to receive the certification, the textile products have to comply with all criteria.
According to these criteria, the use of cancer-provoking and allergenic substances, pesticides and washable heavy metals is prohibited or at least restricted. The certification ensures a sustainable sensitisation and consumer safety.
