The DT Swiss ARC 1400 DICUT® DB 38 carbon rear wheel for road bikes with disc brakes was developed to deliver maximum performance on demanding mountain routes. 

The third generation of the ARC series sets new standards in terms of aerodynamics and efficiency. Specially designed for wider tyres, this system wheel combines a modern, enlarged inner rim width with an optimised V-shaped rim profile. This ensures a balanced ratio of low drag, high stability and precise steering performance – even in changing wind conditions.

With its 38 mm rim depth, the ARC 1400 DICUT® is particularly suitable for long climbs and demanding tours where a lightweight, efficient wheelset is crucial. The high-quality 240 DICUT® hub with the proven Ratchet EXP freewheel system ensures direct power transfer and high reliability. The system is complemented by DT aero comp® II spokes, which contribute to overall stiffness and aerodynamic optimisation.

Technologies:

• AERO+:
The symbiosis of air resistance, handling and efficiency. – The optimisation of the wheel aerodynamics by DT Swiss in cooperation with SWISS SIDE reduces rotational and air resistance for low-friction acceleration and controlled steering behaviour in crosswinds. In combination with a larger inner rim dimension for wider tyres, rolling resistance is also reduced. Traction and comfort are enhanced by the wide contact patch.

• RATCHET EXP SYSTEM:
Thanks to the integration of star ratchet and thread ring, this is currently the lightest ratchet freewheel system from DT Swiss. The start ratchets for the Ratchet EXP system have 36 or 54 teeth for a particularly small engagement angle. The system stands out for high reliability thanks to the simultaneous meshing of the teeth, which leads to significantly lower point loads. The no-tool concept allows easy maintenance and tool-free conversion to common axle and freehub body standards.

• PRO LOCK®:
DT Pro Lock® prevents the spoke-nipple connection from loosening. In the Pro Lock® process, a special dual component adhesive is injected into the nipple thread, allowing for extremely durable wheel builds. By threading the nipple onto the spoke the adhesive is activated and then hardens completely within a few hours. Re-truing the wheel is possible, yet it will cause a slight decrease in the adhesive power each time.

• TUBELESS:
All DT Swiss wheels are tubeless ready. The profiles of the DT Swiss rims are specially designed for tubeless use. The rim profile makes it easier to fit the right tyre and ensures a perfect fit. The tubeless system of the rim consists of DT Swiss tubeless ready tape for sealing and a DT Swiss tubeless valve in a length that complies with the rim. When using tubeless ready tyres, a compatible sealant must be used. However, it is also possible to use a conventional combination of tyre and inner tube.

• BEARINGS:
Having learned from years of experience, DT Swiss only uses durable cartridge bearings without bearing play adjustment. DT Swiss hubs are designed to have the optimum axial and radial bearing play when they are properly installed. The correct preload of the bearings to compensate for the clamping force of the wheel mounting system is the basis for a play-free hub with minimum friction.
