DT Swiss ERC 1400 DICUT® DB 45 Road Rear Wheel 28"/700C SHIMANO HG / SRAM XDR™

The DT Swiss ERC 1400 DICUT® DB 45 rear wheel impressively proves what happens when a traditional manufacturer of high-performance bike wheels and a worldwide renowned aerodynamics specialist with more than 50 years of experience from Formula 1 get together to realise a common vision.

With SWISS SIDE, DT Swiss has found a partner that is not just in close geographical proximity but that is also committed to providing customers with the same Swiss precision. By using state-of-the-art technologies and innovative technical know-how, the two partners push the limits of aerodynamics, material properties, as well as of the wheels’ construction and design in professional cycling.

The AERO+ carbon rim is 45 mm tall and was developed based on sophisticated, computer aided simulations and numerous wind tunnel tests. It is just one part of the entire aerodynamic wheel system optimised for use in combination with powerful disc brakes. Very resistant to wind shear and crosswinds, the rim quickly rotates around the legendary 240 hub with outstanding bearings and ratchet EXP freewheel system for maximum efficiency and outstanding power transfer. Your muscle power is transferred through strong DT Swiss aero comp® t-head bladed spokes that give the entire system a perfect balance between comfort and stiffness. DT ProLock hidden aluminium nipples inside the rims additionally ensure minimum air turbulence.

With the excellent handling and outstanding aerodynamics of the DT Swiss ERC 1400 DICUT® DB 45 wheels for disc brakes, riding fun is guaranteed both on long endurance rides and in the heated hunt for best times. Check out the result of the extraordinary partnership between DT Swiss and “Aerodynamics by SWISS SIDE” now!

Technologies:

• AERO+:
The symbiosis of air resistance, handling and efficiency. – The optimisation of the wheel aerodynamics by DT Swiss in cooperation with SWISS SIDE reduces rotational and air resistance for low-friction acceleration and controlled steering behaviour in crosswinds. In combination with a larger inner rim dimension for wider tyres, rolling resistance is also reduced. Traction and comfort are enhanced by the wide contact patch.

• RATCHET EXP SYSTEM:
Thanks to the integration of star ratchet and thread ring, this is currently the lightest ratchet freewheel system from DT Swiss. The start ratchets for the Ratchet EXP system have 36 or 54 teeth for a particularly small engagement angle. The system stands out for high reliability thanks to the simultaneous meshing of the teeth, which leads to significantly lower point loads. The no-tool concept allows easy maintenance and tool-free conversion to common axle and freehub body standards.

• TUBELESS:
All DT Swiss wheels are tubeless ready. The profiles of the DT Swiss rims are specially designed for tubeless use. The rim profile makes it easier to fit the right tyre and ensures a perfect fit. The tubeless system of the rim consists of DT Swiss tubeless ready tape for sealing and a DT Swiss tubeless valve in a length that complies with the rim. When using tubeless ready tyres, a compatible sealant must be used. However, it is also possible to use a conventional combination of tyre and inner tube.

• BEARINGS:
Having learned from years of experience, DT Swiss only uses durable cartridge bearings without bearing play adjustment. DT Swiss hubs are designed to have the optimum axial and radial bearing play when they are properly installed. The correct preload of the bearings to compensate for the clamping force of the wheel mounting system is the basis for a play-free hub with minimum friction.
