Bicycle U-Locks
U-Locks – Security for Bikes
The heavy and secure bike lock for everyday use
The U-lock is a classic among bicycle locks. Although it is comparatively heavy and bulky due to the use of solid materials, it offers you added safety in everyday life.
What is a U-lock? How does a U-lock work?
The U-lock for your bike is a hardened metal bike lock with no moving parts. It consists of a solid shackle with a soft plastic coating that is inserted into a head with a locking system. Thanks to the combination of high-quality, solid parts and the design, it should withstand attempts to breaking it open, drilling and levering and offer little contact surface for cutting tools. The shackle is slightly softer in the centre, making it more difficult to break open using cold spray. Thanks to the plastic coating and cylinder protection, the U-lock is also particularly robust against the weather and cold, especially if you regularly park your bike outside.
How long should the U-lock be?
To secure your bike from being carried away, the U-lock is passed through the spokes, the luggage rack or the frame, for example, and attached to objects such as lampposts, fences or bike racks. As the U-lock is manufactured in a U-shape and cannot be moved, it is important to ensure that the lock is the right size when purchasing it. If you want to secure your bike to a lamppost, for example, we recommend buying a sufficiently large U-lock.
How do I transport my U-lock?
We recommend a U-lock holder for your bike so that you always have your U-lock to hand. A corresponding bracket for your U-lock is either already included in the scope of delivery and can be easily mounted on the frame, or is available in our online shop in the bike lock accessories section.
